# Set up Shopify triggers in automation

> Choose the right Shopify trigger for a bitCRM automation, including the difference between Abandoned Cart and Abandoned Checkout.

Use this page when your automation should start from a Shopify event.

## Overview

The current **Shopify** trigger family includes these trigger options:

* **Abandoned Cart**
* **Abandoned Checkout**
* **Order Created**
* **Order Created (unpaid)**
* **Order Fulfilled**
* **Order Paid**

## Before you start

* Open [Automation](https://app.bitbybit.studio/bitcrm/automation-new).
* Click **Create new scenario**.
* Make sure Shopify is connected.

## Choose between Abandoned Cart and Abandoned Checkout

These two triggers are often confused:

* **Abandoned Cart** is for shoppers who added items to cart but did not move on to checkout.
* **Abandoned Checkout** is for shoppers who reached checkout but did not complete the order.

If you want to follow up earlier, start with **Abandoned Cart**.

If you want to follow up after the shopper has already entered checkout, use **Abandoned Checkout**.

## Steps

1. Click **Trigger**.
2. Choose **Shopify**.
3. Select the Shopify trigger you want to use.
4. Save the trigger.
5. Add the next step in the scenario.
6. Click **Save automation**.

## What happens next

After the trigger is saved, add the message, timing, or condition you need for that Shopify flow.
