Use this page when you need to choose how a customer pays for a Commerce order. Once a payment method is set, bitbybit generates a payment link for connected providers and updates the order automatically when the customer pays.

Overview

An order can use one of three payment method types:
  • Custom payment method — your own bank account or manual instructions. You confirm payment yourself.
  • Xendit — a connected payment gateway. bitbybit generates a payment link and updates the order automatically.
  • Doku — a connected payment gateway. bitbybit generates a payment link and updates the order automatically.
Xendit and Doku always appear at the top of the picker, above your custom payment methods. If a provider is not connected yet, its entry shows Integrate now instead of selecting it.

Before you start

  • Create or open the order you want to set a payment method on.
  • Make sure the customer is already selected on the order.
  • To use Doku, connect it first — see Connect Doku for orders.

Step 1: Open the payment method picker

  • On the order screen, find the payment card.
  • Select Add payment method. If the order already has one, the button reads Edit payment method.

Step 2: Choose a payment method

  • Select the payment method you want to use.
  • If Doku or Xendit shows Integrate now, selecting it opens the connection modal instead. Connect the provider, then return to the picker and select it again.
Connecting a provider from Integrate now is the same flow as connecting it from the Integrations page. See Connect Doku for orders for the credentials you need.
For Doku and Xendit, bitbybit generates the payment link when the order is approved or saved as an active order — not while it is still a draft. On a draft order the payment card tells you the link is still pending. Once the order is active, the payment card shows a Payment URL row. Open or copy that link and send it to your customer. The Payment URL row is hidden once the order is paid or refunded, because the link is no longer useful at that point. If you are approving a draft order, bitbybit offers to send the payment link for you. See Review and approve draft orders.

What your customer sees

Your customer opens the payment link and pays through Doku. After a successful payment, they land on a confirmation page that reads Payment successful! and shows the order ID and the amount paid. They can close the window and return to the chat with you — no bitbybit account is needed.

Track the payment

You do not need to mark a Doku or Xendit order as paid yourself. The payment status updates automatically once the customer completes the transaction. The payment card header tells you where the order stands — Not paid yet, Paid at, or Expired at, with the date and time. The order timeline records what happened:
  • Payment captured — the payment was received. The entry shows the amount and that it came via Doku.
  • Payment expired — the payment link expired before the customer paid.
For manual payment status updates on custom payment methods, see Payment updates and fulfillment.

Review your connected payment methods

To see every payment method available to your orders, go to Settings → Commerce → Order settings and find the Payment methods card. Connected gateways appear alongside any custom payment methods you have created. Both gateways expose their payment link as a variable you can drop into a message template or an automation: In the template and automation editors these appear in the variable list as Doku Payment Url and Xendit Payment Url. Use them to send a payment link the moment an order is created, instead of copying it by hand. See Set up Commerce triggers in automation for the trigger to pair them with.
