Overview

The current Shopify trigger family includes these trigger options:
  • Abandoned Cart
  • Abandoned Checkout
  • Order Created
  • Order Created (unpaid)
  • Order Fulfilled
  • Order Paid
  • AI Draft Order

Before you start

  • Open Automation.
  • Click Create new scenario.
  • Make sure Shopify is connected.

Choose between Abandoned Cart and Abandoned Checkout

These two triggers are often confused:
  • Abandoned Cart is for shoppers who added items to cart but did not move on to checkout.
  • Abandoned Checkout is for shoppers who reached checkout but did not complete the order.
If you want to follow up earlier, start with Abandoned Cart. If you want to follow up after the shopper has already entered checkout, use Abandoned Checkout.

Use the AI Draft Order trigger

When a shopper buys through your AI agent, the order is created as a Shopify draft order, not a standard checkout — so the Order Created and Abandoned Checkout triggers do not fire for it. Use the AI Draft Order trigger to start an automation from an AI-created draft order, for example to send a WhatsApp payment reminder with the invoice link. Combine it with a Time Delay to hold the message before sending. If the shopper pays through the AI link before the delay ends, the queued message is cancelled automatically.

Steps

  1. Click Trigger.
  2. Choose Shopify.
  3. Select the Shopify trigger you want to use.
  4. Save the trigger.
  5. Add the next step in the scenario.
  6. Click Save automation.

What happens next

After the trigger is saved, add the message, timing, or condition you need for that Shopify flow.
