Overview
TikTok messaging routes inbound TikTok direct messages into bitChat. Once activated, a TikTok DM lands on the same shared inbox, AI agent, and customer record as your WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger conversations. Your agent can answer product questions in the thread, and leads can be tagged for WhatsApp follow-up later.
This integration covers TikTok messaging only. It does not sync TikTok Shop orders or catalog, and it is not a broadcast or outbound-automation tool.
TikTok messaging is in beta. TikTok does not publish a general direct-message API, so there is no self-serve connect flow. The bitbybit team scopes and activates the routing path per surface, depending on how buyers message you (TikTok Shop chat, creator DMs, or a partner-managed setup). Availability depends on your account, so confirm support with the team before you plan around it.
Before you begin
Have the following ready before you request activation:
- A bitChat account with access to your Integrations dashboard.
- An active TikTok presence that receives buyer DMs.
- Confirmation of which TikTok surface your buyers message you on: TikTok Shop chat, creator DMs, or a partner-managed routing setup.
- A configured AI agent in bitChat, so routed conversations have an agent to answer them.
Step 1: Request activation from the bitbybit team
Because there is no public TikTok DM API, you cannot connect TikTok yourself from the Integrations dashboard. Start by requesting activation.
- Contact the bitbybit team to request TikTok messaging access.
- Tell the team which TikTok surface your buyers use to message you (TikTok Shop chat, creator DMs, or a partner-managed setup).
Provide the surface details so the team can scope the correct routing path.
Step 2: Let the team scope your surface
The bitbybit team reviews your account and confirms what is supported for your TikTok surface before anything goes live.
- The team scopes the activation route that matches your surface.
- The team confirms which conversation types are supported for that route.
Wait for the team to confirm the scope before moving to setup.
Step 3: Connect your TikTok presence to bitChat
After the team confirms your route, connect your TikTok presence and map incoming conversations to your customer records.
- Connect your TikTok presence to bitChat using the route the team scoped.
- Map incoming TikTok conversations to your bitChat customer records.
Step 4: Route conversations to your AI agent
Point TikTok conversations at the same AI agent that runs your WhatsApp, and set when it answers on its own.
- Assign TikTok conversations to your existing bitChat AI agent.
- Set when the AI agent answers solo and when it hands off to a human teammate.
Step 5: Send a test DM and switch it on
Confirm the route works end to end before you go live.
- Send a test DM from TikTok.
- Confirm the thread appears in bitChat and lines up with the correct customer record.
- Switch the integration on.
What works today
TikTok messaging is scoped to inbound conversation routing. The following is supported:
- Inbound TikTok DMs route into the same bitChat inbox and customer record as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger.
- The same AI agent that runs your WhatsApp answers product questions in the thread, such as sizing, price, and availability.
- A human teammate can take over the conversation on the same record at any time.
- TikTok-sourced leads can be tagged into segments for later WhatsApp follow-up.
The following is not part of this integration:
- It is not a self-serve growth or outbound-automation tool. There is no TikTok broadcast surface; use WhatsApp Cloud API for broadcast.
- It does not sync TikTok Shop orders or catalog. TikTok Shop sync is separate and tracked on the roadmap.
